US , Pakistan discuss Afghanistan peace process

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan and the United States Monday (April 29) held delegation-level talks in Islamabad to discuss the continuing Afghan peace process, Radio Pakistan reported.

US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad and US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells conferred with the Pakistani delegation, led by Additional Secretary (Americas) Aftab Khokhar.

The two sides discussed US-Pakistani relations and the Afghan reconciliation process, according to Radio Pakistan.

Meetings between Pakistani and US officials are considered significant against the backdrop of recent rounds of US-Taliban peace talks in Qatar, according to Dawn.
