HUNGARY -- Police in Hungary have arrested a Pakistani man wanted by Interpol in connection with suspicion of committing scores of assassinations, reported AFP Wednesday (October 25).

The 35-year-old suspect was among migrants being smuggled to Austria. The group was caught Tuesday (October 24) at Boly, near Hungary's southern borders with Croatia and Serbia, according to a statement by the Austrian Federal Criminal Bureau.

"Pakistan has issued an international arrest warrant for murder for [the man] who was then arrested," police in Bacs-Kiskun county, Hungary, said Wednesday, without providing further details.

Detectives in neighbouring Austria said the man is allegedly the infamous "Butcher of Pakistan", a professional gunman accused of "around 70 contract murders" in Pakistan.
