Pakistani violence kills 5

KARACHI -- Three security personnel and a pair of brothers were killed recently in violence in Pakistan, media reported.

A land mine August 17 in the Tirah Valley, Khyber Agency, killed two Pakistani army troops, Dawn reported, quoting security officials.

Another security officer August 17 in Naseerabad District, Balochistan Province, was killed while defusing a mine, police said, according to Dawn.

Meanwhile in Karachi August 18, unidentified gunmen fatally shot two brothers, according to Geo News.

Two employees of Dawn News were wounded when gunmen opened fire on their van in Karachi August 17, according to Pak Tribune.
