TTP confirms death of suspected mastermind of 2014 Peshawar APS massacre
PESHAWAR -- The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Wednesday (October 18) confirmed the death of the suspected mastermind of the December 2014 Army Public School (APS) massacre in Peshawar, reported Dawn.
TTP gunmen killed more than 140 children and teachers when they stormed the school. TTP commander Umar Mansoor was accused of masterminding the atrocity.
Usman Mansoor Hafizullah will replace Mansoor as TTP commander in Dara Adamkhel and Peshawar, said TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani in an email to journalists.
Dawn could not independently verify the claim.
The announcement of Mansoor's death came after an air strike Tuesday (October 17) in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, killed six TTP members.
Umar Khalid Khorasani, chief of the TTP splinter group Jamatul Ahrar, was wounded in the same strike, sources told Dawn.
