Peshawar police lead KP police forces in casualties

Staff Report

PESHAWAR -- Peshawar police officers lead all Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police forces in casualties suffered while fighting the militancy, the Express Tribune reported July 29.

Peshawar officers have suffered at least 340 of the provincial police's 1,210 deaths since 2006 from fighting terrorists.

The city has suffered about 50% of all terrorist attacks inflicted on KP in the past several years.

Swat District was second in KP with 123 police deaths since 2006 as of July 21, according to the data.

Militants trying to assassinate the police have modified their tactics over time, using targeted killings now rather than roadside bombs or suicide bombings, a KP Police official said.
