Bannu jailbreak figure hanged in Kohat

Staff Report

KOHAT -- A terrorist who helped spring 400 inmates from the Bannu jail in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in April 2012 was hanged in Kohat Thursday (March 30), according to Dawn.

Tahir Shah, the "hardcore terrorist", belonged to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Shah received a death sentence from a military court, said ISPR.

The Bannu jailbreak freed both common criminals and militants, including Adnan Rasheed, a former air force member who was awaiting execution for trying to assassinate then-President Pervez Musharraf. Rasheed is still at large.
