Abbasi declares Intelligence Bureau list 'fake'

Pakistan Forward

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Monday (October 9) told the National Assembly that the alleged Intelligence Bureau (IB) list, which contained names of parliamentarians linked with banned outfits, is "fake and a forged document", Dawn reported.

Reports claimed that Abbasi's office had asked the IB to investigate some 37 parliamentarians, mostly belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), for alleged links with proscribed organisations, according to Dawn.

Abbasi denied that his office had asked for such a list, or that the IB had prepared such a report.

The prime minister said the IB had initiated an inquiry into the matter.
