Pakistan requires Afghan visitors to have travel documents

PESHAWAR -- Pakistani authorities recently barred Afghan nationals from entering Pakistan without valid travel documents, media reported June 1.

Pakistan set May 31 as the deadline for Afghans to begin showing travel documents, including visas, if they wanted to cross into Pakistan, officials at the Torkham border crossing said, according to Geo News.

Formerly, Afghan nationals had been able to enter Pakistan without such documents.

Afghans trying to enter Pakistan illegally face imprisonment, Pakistani border officials said.
