US State Department welcomes arrest of top LeT leaders

WASHINGTON, DC -- The United States on Saturday (October 12) backed Pakistan's decision to arrest four leaders of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant group, Dawn reported.

"We welcome news that Pakistan arrested four #LeT leaders," tweeted the US State Department Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. "The victims of LeT's vicious attacks deserve to see these individuals prosecuted now, along with LeT leader Hafiz Saeed.

Pakistani authorities last Thursday (October 10) announced that they had arrested the top four leaders of LeT in connection with charges of terrorism financing.

They were identified as Zafar Iqbal, Yahya Aziz, Mohammad Ashraf and Abdul Salam.
