KARACHI -- Police killed three terrorists, including a regional chief of al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), in a shootout Monday (June 24) in Sindh Province.
Police raided a house in Khuda Baksh Goth to arrest three militants associated with AQIS, said Irfan Bahadur, the police chief of Malir District.
"All three -- including Talat Mehmood alias Yousaf, the outfit's Sindh Province chief -- were killed in the shootout," Bahadur said.
Mehmood, who also belonged to "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) for a brief time, was listed in the "Red Book" of most wanted terrorists.
He had been involved in a number of terrorist activities in Sindh and Balochistan provinces and masterminded the slaying of several police officers in Hyderabad.
