HYDERABAD -- The Sindh University (SU) administration cancelled the provisional admission of a student who joined the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), citing a risk to other students, Dawn reported Wednesday (May 22).

Naureen Leghari, a student at the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), disappeared in February 2017 to join ISIS.

She was arrested in Lahore in April 2017 after an encounter between a group of militants and Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials.

She then underwent rehabilitation and resumed her studies at LUMHS until it revoked her admission in March.

Leghari had gained provisional admission to SU last November and attended classes before school officials learned her identity.
