By Abdul Ghani Kakar

GWADAR -- Gunmen Saturday (May 11) stormed the Pearl Continental Hotel in Gwadar, Balochistan, killing at least five people.

"The main target ... were those guests present in the hotel," Liaquat Shahwani, a spokesperson for the Balochistan government, told Pakistan Forward.

Security forces killed the three terrorists involved.

"The attackers tried their best to reach the hotel's guests, but they didn’t succeed," he said, adding that the terrorists sought to disrupt China-Pakistan projects.

The terrorists wore the uniforms of security forces, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a Sunday (May 12) statement.

Security forces evacuated guests and staff before conducting a clearance operation, it added.

The separatist Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility via Twitter, AFP reported.
