ISLAMABAD -- The number of reported child abuse cases went up 11% last year from the figure in 2017, Dawn reported, highlighting an issue that many see as a systemic social problem.
The NGO Sahil published the findings Wednesday (April 3) in a report titled "Cruel Numbers 2018".
Sahil found 3,832 cases in 2018, compared to 3,445 in 2017. It obtained the results by monitoring 85 Pakistani newspapers. Fifty-five percent of the victims were girls.
More than 10 Pakistani children suffer some type of abuse every day, according to the report.
