Suspect accused in connection with 2015 Safoora Goth bus shooting arrested

DADU -- Police in Dadu District of Sindh Province arrested a suspect accused of involvement in the May 2015 bus shooting near Safoora Goth in Karachi, Geo News reported Tuesday (September 25).

Gunmen riding motorcycles stopped the bus and boarded it, killing 46 members of the Ismaili minority.

The suspected terrorist, Naveed alias Sharif, is associated with al-Qaeda, Sindh Senior Superintendent of Police Tanveer Tunio told Geo News, adding that six cases were pending against the man. He is also accused of killing two policemen in Hyderabad in 2014.

Other men convicted in the 2015 shooting, including Saad Aziz, received death sentences from a military court in 2016. However, Aziz was freed for lack of evidence this year.
