Top US diplomat arrives in Islamabad for talks

ISLAMABAD -- US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells arrived in Islamabad for talks Monday (April 23), the Express Tribune reported.

Wells conferred with Pakistani Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua at the Foreign Ministry. Wells is making her third visit to Pakistan this year.

The officials discussed matters of mutual interest during the meeting, including restrictions on Pakistani diplomats in the United States and regional and Afghanistan-related issues.

Both sides earlier agreed that Afghan peace efforts should continue moving forward.
