UN honours 7 Pakistani peacekeepers killed in the line of duty

NEW YORK -- The United Nations (UN) Thursday (April 19) honoured seven Pakistani peacekeepers who lost their lives during international peacekeeping operations, Dawn reported.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres paid homage to peacekeepers who were killed between July 2016 and the end of 2017 during an annual memorial ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

The Pakistanis were killed in the Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo and Darfur, Sudan.

Pakistan is among the top contributors of troops for UN peacekeeping missions. So far, 156 Pakistanis have been killed in the line of duty.
