Pakistanis memorialise 10th anniversary of Bhutto assassination

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistanis Wednesday (December 27) marked the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the former prime minister, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.

Bhutto, the first woman to lead a Muslim country, was in office 1988-1990 and 1993-1996. She was assassinated December 27, 2007, in a combined gun attack and suicide bombing in Rawalpindi while campaigning to regain her old office.

An estimated 20,000 mourners gathered at her shrine in Garhi Khuda Baksh, Sindh Province, as shown on TV.

There have been no convictions in the case to date.
