PESHAWAR -- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) health authorities have reported their province's first case of polio this year, Dawn reported Thursday (September 21).

Medics diagnosed a two-year-old girl with the virus in Lakki Marwat District, say health officials. She reportedly had been vaccinated but fell ill anyway. Her vaccination at least will enable her to walk normally when she recovers, Dawn reported.

The polio case was Pakistan's fifth this year. Last year KP reported eight cases.
