70 ISIS social media accounts traced to Pakistani computers

Staff Report

KARACHI -- The "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) is posing a real threat to Pakistan by stepping up social media footholds in the country, a senior Sindh Province Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) official said Thursday (May 18), according to Dunya TV.

The CTD found at least 70 ISIS-operated social media accounts operated from Pakistani computers -- accounts that urge youth to take up terrorism, said Senior Superintendent of Police Junaid Sheikh said.

Those accounts are based in many Pakistani locations, including Karachi, he said, adding that security forces are jointly investigating the matter and are working to prevent such misuse of technology.
