Targeted killing leaves another Ahmadi dead; boy killed by mob

ISLAMABAD -- Unknown gunmen killed a member of the Ahmadi minority in Punjab, while a mob attempt to lynch a suspected blasphemer in Balochistan left a 10-year-old boy dead, media reported.

Basharat Ahmed, 62, an Ahmadi, was gunned down Wednesday (May 3) in Rahimyar Khar District, Punjab Province, according to SAMAA.

It was the third targeted killing of an Ahmadi in just 35 days in Punjab, said Saleem ud Din, a spokesman for Jamaat Ahmadiyya Pakistan, an Ahmadi organisation.

Meanwhile, a mob besieged a police station in the Hub area of Balochistan, demanding that police give up a Hindu man accused of blasphemy, Dawn reported Thursday (May 4).

In the violence, a 10-year-old boy was killed, said police. The boy died of gunshot wounds, according to Dawn.
