OTTAWA, Canada -- Canada awarded honorary citizenship to 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai Wednesday (April 12), Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau presented a framed certificate to Malala, the sixth and the youngest recipient ever of Canadian honorary citizenship.
"Malala, your story is an inspiration to us all," said Trudeau.
Malala survived a Taliban assassination attempt in 2012 in Swat for promoting girls' education. She recently became the youngest-ever UN Messenger of Peace.
