Pakistani parties agree to extend military courts

ISLAMABAD -- All parties in the Pakistani parliament Thursday (March 16) agreed to extend the operation of military courts for two more years, Geo News reported.

The lawmakers will debate an extension bill Monday (March 20), National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said during a joint news conference with parliamentary party leaders.

The courts received a two-year mandate in January 2015, days after the December 2014 terrorist massacre at Army Public School n Peshawar. More than 140 children and teachers were killed.
