Authorities plan tight security for Super League final in Lahore

Staff Report

LAHORE -- Authorities are assuring spectators and players of tight security during the long-awaited final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 in Lahore on March 5, Dunya TV reported Monday (February 27).

During the event, authorities will close nearby facilities to prevent potential attackers from gathering.

The Punjab government gave the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) permission to hold the final in Gaddafi Stadium, said PSL Chairman Najam Sethi.

Sporting events in Pakistan are dogged by memories of the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in March 2009. Six Sri Lankan players were injured; eight Pakistanis were killed.
