Pakistan launches Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad

AFP and Staff

RAWALPINDI -- The Pakistani army Wednesday (February 22) launched Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad to eliminate the "residual/latent threat of terrorism" nationwide, media reported, quoting an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.

The operation is also meant to consolidate gains from past operations and to secure borders, Dawn reported.

The air force, navy, civil armed forces and other security agencies will participate.

Troops and police have been on high alert in Pakistan after last week's wave of attacks, including one in Lahore and another on a Sufi shrine in Sindh Province, killed more than 100 people, according to AFP.
