Explosions kill 5 in South Waziristan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR -- Three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and two children were killed in two separate blasts in South Waziristan Agency and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, media reported.

The FC men were on patrol in Khan Kot Zarmina area of South Waziristan Agency Sunday (February 12) night when a planted bomb was detonated near them, Dawn reported.

In another incident Sunday (February 12) in Buner District of KP province, two brothers were playing with a hand grenade they found in a mountainous village when it exploded, killing them and wounding their female cousin, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zariful Maani said, according to The Express Tribune.

Meanwhile, police recovered and defused a 20kg bomb placed in a bag planted near the provincial prosecutor general's house in Bilal Town on Sabzal Road, Quetta, police said, The Express Tribune reported Saturday (February 11).

According to police, children found the bomb in the street and alerted law enforcers.
