LAHORE – A Lahore-based anti-terrorism court sentenced a defendant to sixteen and a half years in prison for attacking activists who were commemorating the fourth anniversary of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer's assassination, Dawn reported Thursday (January 26).
Five other culprits in the same incident received the same sentence in July 2015.
Mumtaz Sindhi, the just-sentenced defendant, was arrested and tried later than the others.
The defendants attacked a group of activists who gathered in Lahore January 4, 2015, and tore up their banners.
Taseer's own bodyguard shot him in Islamabad in 2011.
Here, a killer is freed the other day but one who tears a banner gets 16 years sentence………?
