Staff Report

QUETTA -- About 700 Pakistani security personnel have given their lives to fight terrorism in Balochistan Province, Lt. Gen. Amir Riaz, commander of the army's Southern Command, said Tuesday (December 20) in Quetta, according to Dawn.

Riaz was apparently referring to casualties in the "last 10 to 12 years". He spoke at a function at Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters.

Security personnel in Balochistan battle local separatists, as well as al Qaeda-linked and sectarian militants, Amir said.
