Mob attack on Ahmadi site in Punjab injures several

CHAKWAL, Pakistan -- A mob attack Monday (December 12) injured several people at a house of worship of the Ahmadi religious minority in Chakwal District, Punjab Province, media reported.

A mob of about 1,000 stormed the house of worship and hurled stones and bricks, according to district deputy commissioner Mahmood Javed Bhatti, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.

The mob set part of the building ablaze before police dispersed it, local police official Rashid Ahmad said.

No motive for the attack was reported, but extremists have repeatedly targeted the Ahmadi minority.
