Pakistani violence kills militant, tribal chief

ISLAMABAD -- A suspected militant, a tribal elder and his brother were killed and two Levies Force personnel wounded, while in the past 24 hours authorities captured two al-Qaeda suspects.

Security forces October 10 killed the militant during a raid in the Sibi area, Balochistan Province, SAMAA reported, quoting the Frontier Corps (FC).

Earlier October 10, two Levies Force personnel were injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) that exploded in Mamond, Bajaur Agency, the agency political administration said, according to The Express Tribune.

Separately, gunmen October 8 fatally shot a Balochistan tribal chief and his brother in Bolan District, Levies Force officials said, Dawn reported.

Punjab Province October 8 in Sargodha detained two suspected al-Qaeda operatives, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Zulfikar Hameed said, according to Dawn.

Meanwhile, 102 militants on a watchlist have disappeared from their homes, the Punjab Home Department recently confirmed, Dawn reported October 10.

The majority of missing militants belonged to Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions and could join disruptive activities in during Muharram. The Home Department ordered police to find them.
