Quetta blast wounds 14; Rangers kill 4 terrorists in Karachi

QUETTA -- A remote-controlled bomb injured at least 14 people in Quetta August 11, while troops recently killed four terrorists in Karachi and made seven arrests in Karachi and in Peshawar, media reported.

The Quetta bomb exploded when a federal Sharia court judge's car was passing by, police said. The judge, Zahoor Shahwani, escaped injury, Dawn reported.

Police arrested a suspect near the blast site, Geo News reported August 11.

Meanwhile in Karachi, the para-military Rangers August 10 killed four terrorists in a shoot-out, a Rangers spokesman said, according to Geo News.

The terrorists were plotting to attack Independence Day (August 14) celebrations, the spokesman said.

Police recently rounded up five suspects in different parts of Karachi, Geo News reported August 11.

In Peshawar, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) recently arrested two suspects who are accused of plotting a terrorist attack in the KP capital, the CTD said August 10, according to Dawn.
