JUI-F leader killed; 7 suspects held in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD -- Militants gunned down a Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) (JUI-F) leader and his son in Balochistan at the weekend, while police killed five militants in Punjab Province.

Militants July 24 in Kech District, Balochistan, opened fire on local JUI-F leader Mufti Ehtisham-ul-Haq and his son, killing them on the spot, the Levies Force said, according to Dawn.

Separately, troops in two districts of Balochistan detained seven suspected militants July 24, the Frontier Corps said, according to SAMAA and Dawn.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police Counter Terrorism Department July 23 killed at least five militants belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) in a shoot-out in Rajanpur District, Dawn reported.

Two or three suspects escaped, the CTD said.
