Police officer gunned down in Quetta; 37 killed in KP flooding

ISLAMABAD -- Unidentified assailants July 4 in Quetta killed another police officer, while monsoons in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) killed at least 37 people.

Police officer Malik Mushtaq was gunned down while praying in a mosque, Quetta police said, according to The Express Tribune.

Mushtaq was one of more than Quetta police officers killed in a shooting or bombing since January, The Express Tribune reported July 4.

Flash flooding on July 2 and 3 in Chitral District, KP, killed at least 33 people, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported July 4.

Thirteen other Pakistanis were still missing after flooding swept away part of the village of Arsun, Chitral Deputy Commissioner Usman Warraich said.

The 33 dead in KP included two foreign engineers and two Pakistani workers, who were killed by a roof collapse due to monsoon rains at Tarbela Dam in KP, according to RFE/RL.
