Punjab Police arrest 3 TTP suspects

LAHORE -- The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab Police on Tuesday (June 25) arrested three suspected members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an intelligence-based operation in Gujranwala District, officials said.

Authorities received credible information that the three men were present in the area of Gujranwala city and were planning to attack the personnel of a sensitive agency.

Based on the information, law enforcement personnel carried out a raid and arrested three terrorists identified as Shamas uz Zaman, Muhammad Ashraf and Haji Naeem (alias Sahab Jaan), according to a CTD spokesperson.

One man included in the "Red Book" of most wanted terrorists was among those arrested, said the spokesperson.

The personnel recovered explosives, three detonators, hate material and money, he added.

The detainees disclosed some TTP plots targeting the region, said the spokesperson, adding that authorities are conducting raids to arrest their accomplices.
