ISLAMABAD -- Police arrested two people Tuesday (May 21) in connection to the abduction, murder and alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl, in Islamabad, Dawn reported.

The victim, Farishta, did not return after playing outside in the Shahzad Town area on May 15, according to Gul Nabi, her father.

Farishta's body was found Monday (May 20) with apparent torture marks and wounds, said Nabi, alleging that she was raped before she was killed.

Farishta's family and others on Tuesday held a protest at Taramari Chowk in Islamabad calling for action against the perpetrators. Pakistani society in recent months has reacted with outrage to the nationwide problem of child abuse.
