Pakistan Forward

GHALNAI -- Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar took part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the Mohmand Dam Thursday (May 2), Geo News reported.

The dam is situated in Mohmand District, north of Peshawar.

"There cannot be investment in any country until there is peace," Khan told the groundbreaking ceremony, referring to the success of repeated military offensives since 2014 in reducing militancy nationwide.

"People want to invest in Pakistan because they think there is peace here. Unemployment will begin to decrease when there is investment in the country," he said, as quoted by Geo News.

The Mohmand and Diamer-Bhasha dam projects have created thousands of jobs and hiring will begin soon, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda said at the ceremony, according to Dawn.

The Mohmand Dam is set to be complete by 2024 and will generate more than 800MW of electricity.
