Terrorist attack along Afghan border leaves 3 Pakistani soldiers dead

Pakistan Forward

N. WAZIRISTAN -- A terrorist raid from across the Afghan border in North Waziristan killed at least three Pakistani soldiers and wounded several others, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a Wednesday (May 1) statement.

Sixty to seventy terrorists opened fire on the soldiers as they were fencing the border in Alwara, the statement said, adding that Pakistani troops repulsed them. The troops killed or injured scores of the terrorists.

Afghan authorities "need to have more effective control in border region" to support Pakistan's fencing project and to deny the "use of Afghan soil against Pakistan", it said.

Pakistan will continue fencing the Pakistani-Afghan border despite "all such impediments", added ISPR.
