QUETTA -- Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani Sunday (February 3) demanded that the commissioner of Zhob District complete a report on the death of a Pashtun rights activist within 48 hours, reported Dawn.

Arman Loni died under unexplained circumstances during a sit-in in Loralai Saturday (February 2). His family and other members of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) said that police killed him and demanded an investigation by the Balochistan government.

Police said Loni died of a heart attack, while a PTM colleague contended that police killed him in trying to break up the sit-in, according to Reuters.

A post-mortem exam found no signs of trauma on Loni's body, said a police official cited by Dawn.

Pakistani politicians and civil society have decried Loni's death.
