ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan on Saturday (December 15) summoned Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost to protest a cross-border terrorist attack that killed six soldiers, according to a statement from the Pakistan Foreign Office.

Thirty terrorists attacked a convoy of Pakistan's Frontier Corps on Friday (December 14) along the border. The attack left 14 other soldiers wounded and four terrorists dead, said the statement

"The government of Iran was urged to carry out an effective operation against the terrorist group responsible for the attack on its side of the border," said the statement. "The need for an effective border co-ordination mechanism to prevent such incidents in future was also underscored."

"We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and pray for early recovery of the injured soldiers," it said.
