Pakistan welcomes Afghan peace talks in UAE

ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistani Foreign Office Monday (December 17) welcomed a new round of talks expected to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) between the Afghan Taliban and other international stakeholders, ARY News reported.

The Taliban Sunday (December 16) said it would meet with representatives of the United States, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Pakistan Monday in the UAE.

"Along with international community and other stakeholders, Pakistan is committed to peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan," tweeted Mohammad Faisal, spokesperson for Pakistan's Foreign Office.

"Talks are being held in UAE. We hope this will end the bloodshed in Afghanistan and bring peace to the region," he said, without confirming Pakistan's participation.
