ISLAMABAD -- Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi visited Kabul Saturday (September 15) and conferred with Afghan leaders, including President Ashraf Ghani, on bringing peace and stability to the region, The Express Tribune reported.

Qureshi's maiden visit to Kabul since becoming foreign minister comes amid growing calls by the United States on Pakistan to help prod the Taliban to the negotiating table.

Qureshi and his delegation also conferred with Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani.

Both sides are seeking to repair relations that have seen flare-ups in recent months, including border skirmishes and cross-border terrorism.
