PESHAWAR -- Nine miners were killed and four injured after the roof of a coal mine collapsed Wednesday (September 12) in Dara Adamkhel, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said.
The incident took place in Akhurwal village as miners entered the coal mine at the start of the day, Shahid Ilyas, a senior local official, told AFP.
Pakistan's coal mines operate with poor safety standards.
On August 13, at least 18 miners were killed after a blast tore through a coal mine in Sinjidi village near Quetta.
