WASHINGTON, DC -- The United States announced Saturday (September 1) its intention of reallocating $300 million (Rs. 36.9 billion) meant for military aid to Pakistan to other purposes, AFP reported.

The proposed cutback, which the Pentagon called a "reprogramming request" for the funding in question, requires approval by the US Congress.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expected to come to Islamabad Wednesday (September 5) for talks with new Prime Minister Imran Khan.
