ISLAMABAD -- Opposition parties Wednesday (August 8) held a protest outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Islamabad against alleged vote rigging in the July 25 general elections, Dawn reported.

The demonstration was organised by the Pakistan Alliance for Free and Fair Elections, a newly formed coalition of 11 opposition parties.

Hundreds of party workers, as well as most of the opposition parties' leaders, took part. Security personnel maintained law and order.

The opposition leaders also plan to protest both inside and outside parliament during the first sitting of the National Assembly, which is expected to take place between August 12-14.
