ISLAMABAD -- Pakistanis nationwide celebrated Pakistan Day Friday (March 23), Dawn reported.
The holiday commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, which sought an independent Pakistan.
Pakistani security forces held a joint military parade near Islamabad's Shakarparian hills as part of the celebrations.
President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other civilian and military officials attended the event.
Troops from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) took part in the parade for the first time.
