Japan to enhance counter-terrorism co-operation with Pakistan

RAWALPINDI -- Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono January 3 (Wednesday) arrived in Pakistan for two days of security discussions with senior officials, Dawn reported.

Kono conferred with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Japan looks forward to enhanced counter-terrorism co-operation with Pakistan, Kono told Bajwa Thursday (January 4).

Kono's visit to Pakistan was the first by a Japanese foreign minister since 2009.
