ISLAMABAD -- The World Bank has granted Pakistan a $825 million (Rs. 91.3 billion) loan to upgrade the energy and public finance sectors.

Just more than half the loan, $425 million (Rs. 47 billion), will be used to modernise the national grid, the WB said Wednesday (December 20).

The remaining $400 million (Rs. 44.3 billion) was allocated to improve the management of public finances and thus assist the delivery of much-needed health and education services.
