Militants in North Waziristan kill 2 soldiers

MIRANSHAH -- Militants in North Waziristan opened fire on a Pakistani army vehicle on Tuesday (December 12), killing two soldiers, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Second Lt. Abdul Moeed and Sepoy Basharat, both 21, were killed in the incident, the statement said, according to Dawn.

Moeed recently graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy. Basharat joined the military three years ago, according to the statement.

"Freedom is not free, it costs sons of the soil. Freedom that we enjoy today is owed to so many such brave hearts. Salute to our martyrs," Chief of Army Staff Qamar Jawed Bajwa said, as quoted in a tweet by army spokesman Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor.
