Afghan deputy governor kidnapped in Peshawar

PESHAWAR -- Unidentified gunmen abducted the deputy governor of Kunar Province, Afghanistan, while he was in neighbouring Pakistan, according to officials cited by AFP Sunday (October 29).

Muhammad Nabi Ahmadi arrived in Peshawar Friday for an appointment with a doctor, senior Pakistani police official Muhammad Sajjad Khan told AFP.

"He was in the Dabgari neighbourhood ... when gunmen forced him into a vehicle and drove away," he said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
