Taliban claims killing journalist in disputed incident in Swabi

Pakistan Forward

SWABI -- The Taliban claimed responsibility for the Thursday (October 12) killing of a television journalist in Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported BBC Urdu.

Haroon Khan was gunned down outside his house in Swabi town, the district capital.

The Taliban accused Khan of having links to Pakistan's intelligence agencies.

Swabi police, however, gave a different account of the incident.

They say Khan was involved in an on-going property feud with members of his family, district police office Mohammad Sohaib told Dawn News Friday (October 13).

Two cousins of Khan who were involved in the dispute fled the area after the murder, said Sohaib, and are being investigated as the prime suspects in the case.

Taliban and other militant groups have made false claims in the past.
