MULTAN -- A court in Multan issued an arrest warrant Thursday (October 12) for cleric Mufti Abdul Qavi in connection to the murder of social media star Qandeel Baloch, Geo News reported.

Qandeel, whose real name was Fauzia Azeem, was allegedly murdered in July 2016 by her brother. He confessed and said she had brought shame on the family.

Prior to her murder, video clips and pictures emerged on social media showing that Qandeel and Qavi had met in private at a hotel. Qavi was censured and fired from his job.

Magistrate Muhammad Pervez issued the warrant after officer Noor Akbar asked the court to do so because of Qavi's refusal to co-operate with police.
